EXP3 Submission

Marking Schedules:

Sketch of developed model:

Draft 1:

Draft 2:

SketchUp Model:

Moving Elements:

1. Skylight Coloumns

by rotating the opaque element and modifying their position, natural light can go into the room other than through windows, providing different light conditions while the sunlight condition stands still.

2. sun shading system

This moving element gives client a wider visual field after being raised.

Applied Texture:

Scalar
Floating
linear

Realtime Captures of the Developed Lumion Enviroment:

My theory from Mash up focuses on the ultilisation of natural light, which bring dynamism to the structure.

I connect the Square House with NIDA,Round House, gym and the block house because I think architecture students need communication with other expressions of art, in order to expand their inspirations. Besides as normal students like others they need social activities and exercise. I also want the school have sort of connection to the University Mall.

I create a curvy roof and an open terrace for students to face nature , feel the temperature of the sunlight, and therefore relax themselves.

The change of the storeys transists smoothly, leading to the high-rise bridge across the Anzac Parade.

The library interacts well with natural light, through the use   of slides on the ceiling and  long horizontal windows. this kind of windows are applied frequently because it provides a consuctive outlook.
Light and shadow form different shape.

EXP3 Week1

18 One-Point Perspectives

1. extend to the distance 2.potential of walking track leads the view

3. the unidirection of the view and light
4.Intersections form slides which catch attention
5. Fold and intersect, indicating reflection.
6.stacked structure give light layers.

MashUp

Daylighting is a magic ingredient in architecture, bringing dynamism to static structure, imbuing buildings with a sense of time. It was more evidenced in traditional architecture, which was more tied to nature. The use of light can lead to very diverse feelings: a ray of sunlight calls attention; glare overpowers; the nocturnal sky fascinates, while a dense dark forest arouses fear.Ornament is a primary manifestation of human intelligence.  By rendering visible daylighting data, architects can interact with it, form it, mold it to purpose,we automatically adjust actual color hues under different light conditions to perceive the “natural” color.

EXP2 Week3 Submission

The Parallel Projection of Developed Marker

Concept: Centripetal and Centrifugal + Violence between order and randomness

36 custom textures — from Light to Dark

Comments: I was inspired by light beams and water while drawing my 36 textures. By changing the area overlaping spaces and the way of hatching I tried to create senses of depth and density.
Furthermore, as an inspiration from aboriginal art, some roughness is added to 3 of my textures, and two of them were used in my marker.
Three of them are chosen to be used on my marker:
I was inspired by water when I created this texture:

Water is fluid. It has good transparency but also reflects light. With these properties, water can create distinctive texture under the action of light, and meanwhile shadow is created.

A few ways of hatching can be seen, which demonstrates difference on density, therefore will perform differently under the light.

Violence of black and white is created in this texture, and when it is applied to the marker, these colours contrast with the colourful nature. However, it has a good cooperation with the spot light and the shadow it creates. This texture also indicates the concept of centripetal and centrifugal as lines are emitted from two points to all directions.

This marker was designed as a rest area for people to enjoy the engagement with nature and light, explore the view of the surroundings, and I also created
a space to promote the International Sports Park.

Two belvederes and the advertising board extends towards three different directions, exploring the concept of 'centripetal and centrifugal' in random proportion. At the same time, the ring, acting as a boundary between lower and upper space, interlocks with that extension and creates a space for activity.

The stairs are used to connect the ground platform and two belvederes. The ground platform was designed as it is floating above the ground. It is pure, simple and open to nature. As walking up to a higher level, a new world will be opened to you. The fountain brings dynamic view and intergrates the massive elements and surroundings.

The curvy slides invite sunlight, creating a connection with nature even if it is a half-enclosed space.Instead of regular geometry, those curves were drawn randomly, but you can still see the smooth trasition. You can also observe the linear light beams playing with the wavy texture and therefore the juxtaposition occurs.
